BLURB ~
In a sultry magical realm, an enchanting Lady ensnares a virtuous tax-collector into her dangerous double life.

Lady by day, lockpick by night, Em has some serious misgivings about her latest sneak job. It stinks of espionage, and she’d be more comfortable with straightforward theft. Her intuition proves right when she is confronted by her client, a sweet and sexy mind-reading tax-collector named Quintin. The job turns sour when they are discovered by his blackmailing boss. Posing as lovers to throw off the scent, their passionate embrace haunts Em even as she returns to her brittle facade as a pampered Lady of the Realm.

This double life is further threatened when her criminal contact is thrown in the stocks, leaving her in danger of exposure, and even worse, with no way to support the temple that has been her responsibility since her mother’s death. In desperation, she seeks Quintin out and is horrified to discover he is a Hand of Destin, marked for service to the Troika by a feline familiar. Hands are loyal and true, defenders of the weak, upholders of the law, notoriously honor-bound. In short, everything that she, a willing outlaw, is not.

Despite their differences, the attraction between Em and Quintin only grows stronger, even as she seeks out new ways to earn the beans she needs for her temple. When Em’s father starts talking marriage settlements with a wealthy, but odious, suitor, Em realizes just how much Quintin means to her. But can she find a way to save her temple and still marry her poor but perfect tax collector?

Weekend Reads ~ Druid's Portal - The First Journey

It's all about the pitch ~ A portal closed for 2,000 years. A love that crosses the centuries.

A Few Words From Cindy:

Romance books are a genre I turn to when I need a gentle read, perhaps be swept away from the modern day, far from interruptions by phone and social media. With a happy ending, and dramas that are resolved by the end of the book, romance novels can be a small window of delight in what can be a grim world. Today I would like to introduce readers to a couple of my favourites, ones they may not have seen, but certainly worth looking up.

Sanditon by Jane Austen and Another Lady.

Jane Austen was writing this when she passed away far too young, and for many years the book ended at chapter 11. Finally it was taken up and completed anonymously, and I believe they did a great job. The action is set in the small coastal town of Sanditon, with a practical and likeable heroine, and a dashing hero, and a handsome yet ridiculous villain. The humour is gentle, and there is a good bit of action at the end. For anyone that enjoys Austen, this is a great read.

Thornyhold by Mary Steward.

Mary Steward is probably best known for her mysteries and the fantasy King Arthur series. However, Thornyhold is a wonderful standalone novel that can be read over and over for the sheer enjoyment of the descriptions. The heroine inherits her herbalist aunts’ cottage, so there are some lovely passages about gardens, plants, pets and an old English house. There is a touch of fantasy with a magical element and witchcraft, but it has a happy ending, and all loose ends are firmly tied by the end. The sort of book you would be very happy reading in front of a fire on a wet winters day.

A portal closed for 2,000 years.

An ancient religion twisted by modern greed.
A love that crosses the centuries.
An ancient druid pendant shows archaeologist Janet visions of Roman soldier Trajan. The visions are of danger, death, and love – but are they a promise or a curse?
Her fiancé Daman hurts and abandons her before the wedding, her beloved museum is ransacked, and a robed man vanishes before her eyes. Haunted by visions of a time she knows long gone, Janet teeters on the edge of a breakdown.
In the shadow of Hadrian’s Wall and 2,000 years back in time, Janet’s past and present collide. Daman has vowed to drive the invaders from the shores of Britain, and march his barbarian hordes to Rome. Trajan swears vengeance against the man who threatens both his loves - Janet and the Empire.
Time is running out - for everyone.

Welcome Carly Jordynn! It's the Most Excellent Time of Year

Readers,
Please welcome Carly Jordynn talking about the most Wonderful Busy Excellent Time of Year and her newest newest novel Forest of the Mist: Awakening.

It’s the Most Wonderful Busy Excellent Time of the Year
Yes, I am THAT person. I’m that annoying person who has the Christmas countdown from 99 days and down to THE DAY. I can’t help it, I love Christmas, the season, the meaning behind it, the food, the gifts, the sharing, and the laughter.
The season kicks in at Thanksgiving for me. Thanksgiving is a day to be grateful for all our blessings, families, and friends. The biggest shopping day of the year follows and then the Christmas season really gets going. There are parties to plan, food to prepare or buy if you are like me J, and presents to shop for. I love finding that special gift that someone will just adore. I get excited seeing the joy on their faces. Don’t get me wrong . . . I love the getting part too it’s just that I enjoy the giving more.
Christmas is also a very stressful time of year for all the reasons listed above. There is an extra strain on finances. My day job has the end of the year crunch so tension mounts daily to get all the work done. To add even more worry, try being an author too. You have edits, blogs, writing, all in preparation for the next book release. Lastly, let’s not forget about all the added activities for the kids. By time New Year’s rolls around, I am ready for a mini-vacation.
By mid-January, I’m back on my regular schedule and energized for all the possibilities and opportunities the New Year has to offer. So, readers, I hope you have a joyous Christmas season with your family and friends. By the way, books make a great gift. Just saying. . .

ALEX McGUIRE never dreamed his life would take such a turn. His plan to complete college, become a lawyer, and marry his girlfriend, LILY LAVERY, tanked following his kidnapping to the alternate realm known as Paradise Valley. Now Alex has been ordered by a dead man, DAVID KYLE, to marry his young wife, JENNIFER BURKE KYLE, and raise their infant son, DAVY KYLE, as his own. That would be a great plan if it weren’t for the fact that Jennifer is still in a coma, has never met him, and her son has some strange attributes too.

JENNIFER BURKE KYLE woke from the coma to the realization that she was a widow and the mother of a young son who could read minds, create portals to an alternate realm, and have unforeseen growth spurts when he is in or near Paradise Valley. As if that wasn’t enough, a complete stranger has stated he is to marry her and raise her son as his own. All on the order of her dead husband, David.

DAVY KYLE was tickled pink that Alex McGuire would be his Dad and couldn’t wait for his mother to wake from the coma so the wedding could take place. What Davy didn’t see, was the trouble in the form of PRI, otherwise known as the Percival Research Institute. PRI agents were after his family and it was going to be up to Davy to hide them all until it was safe.

Together, Alex, Jennifer, Davy, and their friends from Paradise Valley, must join together to keep the family safe, destroy PRI, and protect the still comatose COLIN O’BRIEN, the last member of their Paradise Valley family. With the help of student nurse, DEANA COOK, they may just succeed in their plan and find happiness along the way.

Luminosity Book Review

Luminosity

Escaping Demons Saga Book 1

Buy Link

 Book Blurb:

Jasmine Johnstone's life was relatively normal until she was forced to live with the Stevenson family. As she stayed she found she had no choice but to battle mythical creatures. Strengths she never knew she possessed began to surface, surprising those around her. Her only chance of surviving the rising tide of evil was Nathan Stevenson. Could she really trust him as he fought against his love for her? With the world against them and time running out, would their love be enough to defeat demons?

 Review:

Author Stacy McWilliams creates a world of suspense and horror as Jasmine Johnstone's life is up ended. The reader feels Jasmine's terror as she is thrust into a world vastly different then she has ever know. We see the pain and suffering as well as the attraction she feels for Nathan. McWilliams tells a tale that sticks with the reader wondering about the possibility of demons and what lies in Jasmine's future.

The YA novel is book 1 in the Escaping Demons Saga, but I suggest you read Nathan's story Candlelight as well to glean more about his story and role in Jasmine's life.

Welcome D.R. Grady - Author of The Dragon Chronicles - Book 1: Learning

Book 1: Learning

The Most Important Moment in My Writing Career

There are many defining moments in a writer's career. From a great comment from a critique partner who is feeling your story to a great review. Getting that first publishing contract is also pretty satisfying. All of those were exhilarating moments. However, my most important moment is defined by finishing my first book. That moment of finally achieving what had only been a dream before—and was now a reality. A reality requiring a lot editing, but it was tangible, there in black and white. I'm happy to say I still get the same little thrill after finishing each and every subsequent book.

Book Burb:
Peace has reigned for so long, most beings believe dragons are mere myths, including elf professor Dr. Lindy Veles. After meeting attractive Dr. Alex von Schreider—a surly professor from a bear shifter family who possesses plenty of paranormal power, yet can't shift—things start to spiral downward. Especially when he catches Lindy's strong shifter scent. Elves don’t normally shift. Alex finds the compelling elf’s denials suspicious. Lindy thinks he’s crazy to believe she’s a shifter.

As they delve into the ancient Dragon Chronicles, tomes about dragons, it quickly becomes clear their efforts are no mere academic exercise. Dragons are suddenly becoming all too real. When Lindy shifts into one, Alex discovers he’s meant to control her dragon—the most powerful creature on earth. The pair is caught in the middle of two raging battles . . . their own personal emotional war and the war to save their world.

With the clock ticking, Lindy and Alex must surrender their misconceptions about themselves and dragons, and unite to begin the fight for their very existence.
