I've something new this weekend! Dawn Ireland has created a Scottish Food Quiz!

Just imagine. This is your first trip to Great Britain, and on the plane you meet the Highlander of your dreams. Tall and broad chested, with twinkling, sherry-colored eyes. He makes you laugh. No small feat because flying usually terrifies you. When you land, he insists you to join him for dinner on your first night in London.

His restaurant choice oozes charm; stunning landscape pictures line the stucco walls, the woodwork is gleaming, but worn, and the tables are solid with little vases of heather. With his hand on your back, he guides you to a private corner. The perfect gentleman, he suggests he order for you when the waiter arrives.

At your nod, he turns to the jovial man. “The lassie and I will be having Devils on Horseback, then Toad in the Hole with Clapshot, and I’d not want you to forget the Spotted Dick.”

At that comment, you spray your handsome Highlander with the ill-timed mouthful of wine you’d taken to fortify yourself for what lay ahead. With a quick glance at your dripping companion, you slouch down in your chair and hug your arms to your middle, wishing you were back in the States.

Now, the embarrassing situation above wouldn’t have happened if you’d learned about the food in Great Britain. Would you know what Clapshot or Spotted Dick are?  If not, I’ve devised a little test. Let’s see how you do.
