Today is Charlotte Bronte’s birthday.

Jane Eyre is hands
down one of my favorite novels. I read it nearly every year, relishing the
vivid Gothic detail and the unlikely love story. What literary gems the Bronte
sisters were. In a time when
women weren’t considered to be novelist, they
strove to publish their works. In fact, Jane Eyre was originally published
under the name Currer Bell to hide her gender, just as her sisters selected masculine pseudonyms to hide their gender.
It is due to pioneers such as Charlotte Bronte that women
writers were accepted and published.They gave us a start and a future.
So, Happy Birthday, Charlotte and thanks!
